Catherine Annand

Serving In: Uganda
Ministry: Missionary Bridger

Home Church: Immanuel Anglican Church, Manassas, Virginia, USA

Starting Year with SAMS: 2023

Calling to Ministry: Catherine answered her first mission call in 2013 as a team member in Jamaica.  Her service there began in a small fishing village where she shared the love of Christ with children and families through Vacation Bible School, provided and shared meals with the children and their families each day, and distributed much-needed supplies she had secured for the community and their school.  She went from there up into Jamaica’s impoverished mountain area to serve in an orphanage, and worked there to share Christ’s love and mercy not only with the many children who had experienced the trauma of abuse, neglect, separation, and loss, but also with the local children she fed with nourishing meals and God’s Word through a VBS in a rustic school building accessible only by rough mountain trails. After returning home, Catherine read Return To Dignity and heard the Holy Spirit speak to her through the personal stories of the Ugandan women rescued from the terror of the Ugandan "Lord's Revolutionary Army."  Now, after fulfilling the true Lord’s command that she prepare in all ways to spread His Word, she is heeding the Holy Spirit’s call to “go, now” to serve women and families in Uganda.

Mission: Catherine envisions a ministry affording Ugandan women a safe harbor to study God’s Word in Christian fellowship and glorify God together. She intends to share the love of Christ as His servant to the women and children in her Ugandan service community by creating a mission that is annually sustainable. By sharing her love of Christ, she hopes to strengthen the fellowship and mutual edification between women and support familial bonds among women with children who have experienced trauma. Catherine’s prayer is that the women and children she serves thereby will grow in their knowledge and understanding of Christ so that His love will abound in them.

Personal Points of Interest: Catherine earned a criminal justice degree from Old Dominion University in 1990 and a post-graduate theology degree from Liberty University Seminary in 2020.  She is passionate about Christian communion among women and has organized the women’s retreat for her home church since 2017.  She has worked in social services for over two decades serving abused and neglected children and families who have suffered trauma, separation, and loss. Catherine is an avid reader, enjoys walking, scrambles to keep up with home repairs, and is an inventive cook.  Family is essential to her, and she was especially fulfilled when her first grandchild was born in 2023.
