David and Patricia Ayres
David and Patricia Ayres
SAMS Role: Associate Missionaries
Starting Year with SAMS: 2019
Calling to Ministry: David and Patricia love to tell their story of how an American pastor and a German flight attendant met, got married, and started tearing down walls together in Berlin. They are amazed when they think how God was weaving their lives together for His purpose even before they met in 2010! The two believe that purpose is to invite Berliners into reconciled relationships with God by inviting them to follow Jesus Christ. The call to follow Jesus is not a call to walk alone, so David and Patricia are planting a church in Berlin.
Vision for Ministry: The tiny congregation of Christ Church Anglican meets weekly in the Schöneberg district of Berlin. The people are focused on what it means to "be disciples who make disciples of Jesus" in their communities. David and Patricia love to see what God does with a little boldness in love and hospitality to bring spiritual walls down! They envision a city reconciled to God: Berlin, the heart of Europe, transformed by the love of Christ.
Personal Points of Interest: David and Patricia enjoy hosting people in their home, and they believe hospitality is a critical part of the Gospel. They enjoy cooking and good food, travel, meeting new people and seeing new places. David enjoys walking, and he finds tending their tiny balcony “garden” to be therapeutic. Patricia enjoys reading and learning new languages. She is a creative person who enjoys things like cake decorating.
